Helping Angels

Helping Angels is the name we give to all of our parent volunteers who minister to our children once a month.  We encourage all parents (both husbands and wives) to be involved with our children at Christ's Church at Kapolei.  We feel that when you invest your time with the kids, you connect with them: what they're learning, how God is working in their lives, and what they experience in Children's Ministry.

For safety and security reasons, we ask all parents to fill out some information so that we can do a background check.  Besides that, here's some more info on exactly what being a Helping Angel entails:

When you come to church…

J    Come to the Children’s Ministry classroom by 8:50am.

J    Come with a great attitude.

J    Come expecting to have fun with all our children.

J    Come expecting to learn a simple truth from God that will impact your life, yet is so simple, you can review it with your children.

J    Come willing to support the teachers.

At all times:

J    Be ready to redirect children

Ø    If children are not paying attention or misbehaving, say, “__child’s name__, please turn around and listen to the teacher.”

J    Be ready to help the teacher setup any activities, tables, materials, etc.

Ø    “Can I set anything up or help you in any way?  Just let me know what I can do.”

J    Be ready to talk with a few children about the lesson they’re learning.

Ø    “What are you going to do to obey God (or whatever the lesson was) when you go home today?”

Ø    “Do you understand what _teacher’s name_ was saying?  They were saying…”

Ø    “How do you feel knowing that God loves you (or whatever the lesson theme was)?”

Other notes:

J    For safety and security reasons, no adult it to be alone with one child (this includes trips to the bathroom).  Your job is to in the classroom with all the kids.  The children are trained to take a buddy with them to the bathroom.

J    Your time with our children is so valuable.  Thank you for your time and for being an adult who cares about our children.  Your ministry is so important to God.  I want you to know that each time you come to volunteer with our children’s ministry, you have a tremendous impact.  Even your very presence tells our children that you love them.  That’s because kids spell love: T I M E.

J    Thank you so much!
